Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Monday claimed that the Tripura government is readying its deck to attract global investors through the improved connectivity of the state.
The Chief Minister was addressing a press conference here at Agartala Hapania indoor exhibition hall. Delegates from 14 countries arrived here at Agartala on Sunday last to attend the G20 science summit on ‘Clean Energy for Greener Future’ commenced from Monday here in the indoor exhibition hall at Hapania. The summit will last till April 4 next.
Addressing the press conference on Monday noon, the Chief Minister said, “I had discussions with the investors from different parts of the country and other nations too who arrived here to join the G20 summit. We had discussions on investing in various sectors of Tripura including the food processing sector, hospitals, tourism and other key sectors of the state.”
He said, “Opening of the Maitri Setu Bridge over the river Feni connecting Bangladesh will open a new business corridor for the entire North-East region of the state. The Agartala-Akhaura rail service connecting Bangladesh will boost business and trade. We also have an international standard airport now. So, that way the improving connectivity will enhance trade from Tripura with the participation of global investors.”
“Many investors have come here to set up their industry in pharmaceuticals, bamboo, tea, Agar and rubber. We placed our incentive policy before the investors. The discussion with the investors was very fruitful and we look set to attract more such global investors in our state in near future,” he told reporters.
He said, “I had a talk with many investors in the summit, where they showed interest in investing in Tripura. I also suggested some investors who are keen to invest in the health sector of the state, to build multi-speciality hospitals in the state, so that the people of this state including the neighbouring Bangladesh can avail the facility from Tripura instead of running abroad.”
The Chief Minister however said that the series of discussions were held with the participating delegates of G20, where emphasis was laid on generating green hydrogen, while the major theme of the summit is ‘One Earth, One Family, One Future’.
Scientists from 10 countries participated and gave their inputs on the aspects of hydrogen generation of hydrogen in the summit commenced from Monday. The summit will last till April 4.
