Tripura sets target to achieve self-sufficiency in fodder production: Minister Sudhangshu Das

The state Animal Resource Development (ARDD) minister Sudhangshu Das on Wednesday inaugurated a veterinary hospital at Sabroom in South Tripura district and said that the government has set a target to achieve self-sufficiency in fodder production.

Highlighting the pivotal role of animal husbandry in bolstering the rural economy, the minister said that the department of Animal Resource Development plays a key role in enhancing the rural economy and accordingly the state government has taken multiple steps for livestock development and animal husbandry welfare.

He emphasized that apart from employment, it is also possible to make people in rural areas self-reliant through animal husbandry welfare.

Chief Minister Animal Welfare Scheme has been launched in the state to encourage the people in the rural areas on animal rearing, he said, adding that arrangements are being made to provide training and loans to the youth in rural areas to create employment and make them self-reliant.

The Minister also stated that the government is working on plans to increase the production of milk, eggs, and meat in the state.
