The Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) of the state of Tripura is the second highest in the northeast region under BJP's rule, said Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Tuesday.
Addressing the gathering in an event organised on the occasion of celebration of Tripura Statehood Day here at Agartala Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan on Tuesday, the Chief Minister said that the North East region would play a significant role in enhancing the country’s GSDP in the coming days.
“Tripura is advancing in the path of development under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah,” Dr Saha said, adding that Tripura progressed in Sustainable Development Goals, moving from a ‘performer' to a ‘front-runner' state in 2023-24.
He said that whenever the state was in need in context of any developmental issue, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Union Home Minister Amit Shah extended a helping hand to the state. Referring to the recent devastating floods the Chief Minister said, the state government could properly combat the challenges only due to cooperation of the Central government as well as the people of the state, he added.
“Tripura witnessed a remarkable development in the field of national highways, rail, internet communication etc. due to the implementation of the HIRA model of the Prime Minister,” Dr Saha said and referred to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Act East policy and the initiatives taken for the development of Northeast as part of this policy.
The Chief Minister said that the government has taken various measures to expedite socio-economic development in the state. The Tripura Industrial Development Policy, Tripura Start-up Policy, Unnati Prakalpa, IPAT, Tripura Asset Management Policy, Chief Minister Jan Arogya Yojana, Sushason Department, State Policy for the Empowerment of Women, Tripura Agar Policy, Tripura Satellite Development Township Scheme, Tea Auction Centre, signing of MoU with the Tata Technologies, upgradation of infrastructure in the industrial estates etc. are among the major initiatives, he said.
