Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Monday said that the neighbouring country of Bangladesh has shown interest in showcasing their products in the upcoming ‘Unity Mall’ of the state of Tripura.
Dr. Saha stated this while inspecting the location for construction of the mall, which would showcase the unique products of the eight districts of the state including the products of different states of the country.
Dr. Saha said that the mall will be constructed covering at least 4 acres of land in the ground of the Jute Mill here at Hapania. Primarily, the old TRTC bus stand premise was marked for the construction, but due to the lack of land need for the construction of the mall, the location is shifted to Hapania Jute Mill ground.
“This Unity Mall is a dream project of Prime Minister Narendra Modi like that of the Light House Project which is under construction here at Agartala Akhaura bordering area,” he said, adding that the prime objective of constructing unity mall is to showcase and sell the unique local products of the state, where Bangladesh has also shown interest to take part.
“We would keep a separate space for Bangladesh to showcase their products,” Dr. Said, adding that the Mall would have separate spaces for each of the districts of Tripura showcasing the unique products and cultural diversity of the land.
Dr. Saha was accompanied by Chief Secretary J K Sinha, Principal Secretary of Industry & Commerce department K S Sethi, Secretary to the Chief Minister Dr. Pradip Kumar Chakraborty, Agartala Municipal Corporation Commissioner Dr. Sailesh Kumar Yadav, Sadar SDM Arup Deb, Director of Industry & Commerce department Vishwasree B and other high ranking officials.
