Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Saturday attended the eighth governing council meeting of NITI Aayog, chaired by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi.
The theme for this meeting, conducted at the new Convention Centre in Pragati Maidan, Delhi, is ‘Viksit Bharat @ 2047: Role of Team India’.
Chief Minister Dr. Maniki Saha in his speech in the meeting on Saturday said that The state government has released a vision document titled 'Target-2047' on the occasion of Statehood Day on January 21, 2022 specifying the outline of the overall development of the state till 2047. He said that the state of Tripura will grow further under the able leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
“Pertaining to the development of the MSME sector, which is helping to expand trade with Bangladesh, the Tripura Government is supporting Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) units in food processing, rubber, tea, bamboo-based industries, handicrafts, agriculture and horticulture crops for industrial development in the state,” Dr. Saha said in his speech.
The Chief Minister also said that assistance like capital subsidy, low cost power etc. is also being provided to the said MSMEs under the 'Tripura Industrial Investment Promotion Incentive Scheme (TIIPIS) 2022'.
He said, “To make Tripura a hub of agar trade within the country and tap into an agar economy worth Rs. 2000 crore by 2025, the state government has released the 'Tripura Agarwood Policy-2021'.” He said that the state government is committed to run a development-oriented administration aimed at increasing investment and creating employment opportunities.
The Chief Minister underlined the significance of the North-East Global Investments Summit-2023 and said that the state government along with DoNER Ministry held a round table conference to explore investment opportunities in the state of Tripura. As a result of this conference, MoUs worth Rs. 338.00 crore were signed with domestic and international investors.
Dr. Saha underlined various initiatives taken by the Tripura government to grow the state’s economy and said, “4,16,292 women from rural poor sections are associated with 46,475 women self-help groups, 1,950 village organizations and 88 cluster level federations (CLFs). These institutions sanctioned Rs 401.90 crore as Revolving Fund (RF) and Community Investment Fund (CIF) to meet the requirements of women self-help groups. In addition, Rs. 724.92 crore has been given as loan from the bank so that women self-help groups can participate in various vocational activities.”
