Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Monday hailed Prime Minister Narendra Modi over robust development to the state of Tripura and said, “Tripura has benefited the most in the Northeast region of the country from the Centre’s Act East policy.”
Addressing a press conference here on Monday afternoon, the Chief Minister Dr. Saha underlined the achievements of the Centre to mark the completion of 9-year of PM Modi in service to the nation.
Referring to the development of the state of Tripura, Dr. Saha stated, “Tripura has seen a massive transformation in connectivity. The Maitri Setu Bridge over the river Feni, which connects Tripura with Chittagong Port will soon be fully operationalized, and the Agartala-Akhaura rail link will be opened by year-end.”
“In a major boost to rail connectivity, 12 express trains and four local trains run from Agartala at present. Survey for constructing another railway line in Tripura is underway,” he said, adding that in yet another major boost to the airways, at least 12-13 flights are operating from the Maharaja Bir Bikram airport daily, from where international flights will take off from next month.
Meanwhile, the Chief Minister informed that the Tripura government has decided to establish a new Tripura State Rifles (TSR) battalion comprising women troopers. “This is a part of the government’s effort for women empowerment. This decision drew appreciation in the CM’s conclave chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other senior ministers in New Delhi,” he told reporters.
