TU signs MoU with CSIR, CIMFR for strengthening the academic and research collaboration

A MoU has been signed between Tripura University and CSIR, Central Institute of mining and fuel research Dhanbad strengthening the academic and research collaboration between the two institutes.

Sources from Tripura University said that the MoU between Tripura University and CSIR, Central Institute of mining and fuel research Dhanbad has been signed on 22 March will further strengthen the academic and research collaboration between the two institutes.

“The MoU especially focuses on providing students with research internships, joint project supervisions to PhD and MTech students and also do collaborative research in the field of energy generation and soil amendment using rubber wood waste which is going to be a huge issue in future especially to rubber producing states like Tripura and Kerala”, he said.

He said that the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) has been signed between Tripura University and CSIR Central Institute of Mining and Fuel Research, Dhanbad in presence of Prof. G. P. Prasain Vice Chancellor, Tripura University and Dr. P. D. Chavan, CSIR-CIMFR, Dhanbad.

This Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) is made on "Bilateral Agreement of Research & Development, Collaborative project work, Training and Practical exposure for the scientist, faculty, staff, students and members on 22nd March.

“CSIR-Central Institute of Mining and Fuel Research, Dhanbad aims to provide R & D inputs for the entire coal-energy chain encompassing exploration, mining, and utilization. The laboratory also strives to develop mineral-based industries to reach the targeted production for the country's energy security and growth with high standards of safety, economy, and a cleaner environment. In view of the National Missions declared by the Government of India, CSIR-CIMFR has re-aligned its vision, missions, and policies and also redefined targets for short and long terms”, the source said.

He said that this would promote rapid sustainable national techno-economic growth with equal emphasis on self-sustenance. CSIR-CIMFR is located in the town of Dhanbad, Jharkhand, India. It is strategically situated in the Damodar basin of the Eastern part of the country which is endowed with rich coal deposits and hosts, several large mineral-based industries.
