Two arrested with drugs worth Rs 12 Crore from Tripura-Mizoram border

Tripura Police made a significant drug bust on Friday, seizing heroin valued at Rs 12 crore in Kaskao, located in the North District of the state. The operation led to the arrest of two individuals, while the prime suspect remains at large.

Speaking to the media, North District Additional Superintendent of Police Jeremia Darlong shared that the raid was conducted following a tip-off about illegal activities in the residence of Sanjib Debbarma, a resident of Kaskao, Damcherra, which lies near the interstate border with Mizoram.

"Acting on secret information, we raided Sanjib Debbarma's residence in Kaskao and recovered 97 cases of heroin, weighing a total of 164 grams. The seized drugs have an estimated market value of ₹12 crore. Additionally, we confiscated three mobile phones and ₹9,650 in cash," Darlong said.

Although the main accused, Sanjib Debbarma, managed to evade capture, his wife, Rinky Debbarma, and another individual, Ridhi Ram Debbarma, were arrested during the operation. Authorities are continuing their search for the absconding peddler.
