Two detained over allegedly helping in escape of life-term convict prisoner from central jail

In response to the FIR lodged against two staff of Bishalgarh Central Correctional home over their alleged involvement in the escape of a life-term convict Swarna Kumar Tripura, the police of Bishalgarh police station detained the duo on Wednesday.

The Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) of Bishalgarh, Rakesh Chakraborty, who is the Jail Superintendent, has lodged an FIR against the jail warden Tapan Rupini and guard commander Mofiz Miah and Tapan Rupini, on Tuesday after carrying out a preliminary inquiry.

SDM Rakesh Chakraborty said that according to preliminary assessment the role of Tapan Rupini, Warder and Md. Mafiz Mia, Guard Commander of Kendriya Sansodhanagar, Tripura, was found to be suspicious. They are involved in harboring the escape of the convicted prisoner from secured jail custody, he added.

Meanwhile, the Officer In-Charge of the Bishalgarh police station said that all possible measures are being undertaken to detain the escaped convict and searches were already conducted in the places, where the escaped convict may take shelter.
