Tripura Police apprehended two individuals, Mohammad Mainul Islam and Zahir Hossain Chowdhury for their involvement in the abduction of Jilal Ahmed, a resident of Assam and a skilled mason. Ahmed was taken captive on October 8 from the Badharghat locality in Agartala.
After the abduction, the culprits established contact with Ahmed's family, demanding a substantial ransom for his safe release. In response, Ahmed's family traveled to Tripura and followed the abductors' instructions to Boxanagar in Sonamura sub-division, Sepahijala district. There, they successfully apprehended Zahir Hossain Chowdhury, delivering him into the custody of Kalamchaura police station in Sonamura. Unfortunately, their initial attempt to rescue Ahmed was unsuccessful, prompting them to seek assistance from Amtali police station, which falls under the jurisdiction of Badharghat, the area from which Jilal was abducted, explained Asish Dasgupta, the Sub-divisional Police Officer of Amtali.
Upon receiving the report, Amtali police promptly initiated an investigation and subsequently arrested another individual, Mohammad Mainul Islam, from AD Nagar in Agartala city. "Following interrogation, we successfully rescued Jilal Ahmed from the Sonamura area," stated the police officer.
It was further revealed that Mainul Islam, one of the arrested individuals, is originally from Assam and had been residing in the AD Nagar area of Agartala for an extended period. On the other hand, Zahir Hossain Chowdhury hails from Sukantanagar in the Belonia sub-division, which is situated in Tripura's South district.
