In two separate operations Assam Rifles and Tripura Police have seized cannabis worth over Rs 2 crores in separate locations.
As per Assam Rifles, they seized 620 kgs Marijuana worth Rs 2.8 crore from a warehouse in General Area Hezamara, West Tripura District of Tripura on 15 March.
As per Assam Rifles based on credible information, a joint operation was launched by Assam Rifles and Customs Department. The team seized 620 kgs of Marijuana worth approx Rs 2.8 crores from General Area Hezamara, West Tripura District. Seized contents were handed over to Customs department for further investigation & legal proceedings.
While in another operation, Tripura Police arrested two individuals on Friday for smuggling cannabis worth lakhs of rupees, concealed inside tires of a truck in Khowai District.
According to police sources, based on a tip-off, Officer-in-Charge Ripon Uchoi of Baijalbari outpost detained a truck suspected of carrying a substantial quantity of cannabis.
"When the truck arrived at the designated spot, we intercepted it and conducted a search, uncovering 159 kilograms of cannabis hidden within three tires. The arrested individuals hail from Bihar and Himachal Pradesh, respectively. They were traveling from Agartala and bound for destinations outside the state," stated a police officer.
