Tripura Police on Monday arrested two men of Assam in Churaibari while they were attempting to smuggle cannabis worth Rs 25 lakh from Agartala to New Delhi concealed within sofa sets.
Discussing the operation, North Tripura District Superintendent of Police Bhanupada Chakraborty stated that Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha has ordered the establishment of 16 Naka points across the state to make Tripura drug-free.

Acting on credible information, we recovered 150 kgs of cannabis hidden in a sofa set and arrested two individuals identified as Mujibor Ali and Jahangir Alam. A case has been registered against them," he said.
The SP mentioned that both individuals are residents of Bongaigaon in Assam and were en route to Agartala from Delhi.
"The estimated value of the cannabis is around Rs 25 lakh. We are regularly conducting checks in Churaibari, and despite smugglers using various techniques, our efforts have thwarted their attempts," he added.
