The police of P R Bari Police station in South Tripura district on Sunday detained two persons in connection with the attack and killing of CPI(M) candidate Badal Shil.
Badal Shil, CPI (M)'s candidate from South Tripura Zilla Parishad, succumbed to injuries after he was attacked allegedly by BJP workers ahead of the panchayat election held on August 8 last.
The detained persons were identified by the police as Pradip Namah of Sonamura and another Pinku Podder of Melagarh. Acting on a tip off, Police on Sunday morning conducted a joint raid at Sonamura and Melagarh and detained the two persons.
Police said that as of now at least three persons were detained in the attack and killing of Badal Shil. Accused Amal Das was arrested earlier, said police, adding that he is presently under jail custody.
After the attack on July 12 last, Badal Shil succumbed to his injuries on July 13 at Agartala GBP Hospital. The family members later lodged an FIR with the P R Bari police station against 6 persons.
