In a significant move to empower the women of the Self-Help Groups and ensure greater business platform, the state Urban Development Department has decided to organise 8 days long Inter-state Urban Prosperity Festival here in the capital town of Agartala from February 25 next.
Addressing a press conference here in the conference hall of the civil secretariat, the Secretary Urban Development Department Abhishek Singh said that the festival will commence from February 25 next at the Agartala Sishu Udyan premises and will continue till March 3
He said that a total of 132 stalls will be set up in this festival and among those 11 stalls will be assigned for SHG groups from the northeastern region including the states like Manipur, Mizoram and Assam. 10 stalls for TRLM, 10 for street vendors, 3 stalls for Banks, 91 stalls for TULM and 7 stalls for various state government departments will be set up, he added.
Various self-help groups from local bodies of around 20 cities and urban areas of the state including AMC, street vendors and self-help groups from the northeastern region will participate in the festival with their products, he told reporters.
The festival will display various projects of the Urban Development Department. Besides, with the aim of creating a plastic- free Tripura, all the self-help groups coming to the fair will be provided free bags made of environment- friendly materials.
