The Union Minister for Consumer Affairs, food and Public distribution and new and renewable energy Prahlad Joshi, who landed here at Agartala on a two-day visit to Tripura on Saturday chaired a review meeting to check the implementation of the Central government schemes.
Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha, Consumer Affairs minister Sushanta Chowdhury, power Minister Ratan Lal Nath and others were present in the meeting.
During his visit the Union Minister visited the divisional office of the Food Corporation of India in Agartala and conducted an inspection of its godown and Quality Control Laboratory. Joshi also interacted with the officials and advised them to ensure efficient storage and uphold high standards of quality of the food grains.
Later, the Union Minister visited a fair shop in Agartala and reviewed the biometric machine installed for beneficiaries to ensure fair distribution of ration. He had also interacted with the beneficiaries and exchanged feedback with them to further improve the distribution system.
