The Union Ministry of Culture of the Centre has approved Rs. 40 crore for setting up of Thematic Galleries and Planetarium here at Agartala Science City under the Scheme for Promotion of Culture of Science (SPoCS).
The Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Pratima Bhoumik thanked the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Union Minister of Culture G Kishan Reddy and for approving the facelift of science city.
“I wholeheartedly thank Hon’ble PM Shri @NarendraModi ji and Hon’ble Union Minister of Culture & Tourism, Shri @kishanreddybjp ji for initiating the setting up of Thematic Galleries and Planetarium at Agartala, under my Tripura West Parliamentary Constituency,” she said on her social media handle.
Bhoumik, who represents the West Tripura Lok Sabha constituency, shared on social media the letter of approval from Union Minister for Culture G Kishan Reddy.
The letter reads, "Development Thematic Galleries and Planetarium has been approved to be set up in the Sta of Tripura and in your constituency i.e. Agartala at a total cost of Rs.40 Cro Central and State Govt. share being Rs. 36 Cr. and Rs. 4 Crores respectively).”
The thematic galleries will be developed by the National Council for Science Museum at Kolkata.
