In yet another boost to the state tourism sector, Minister Sushanta Chowdhury on Wednesday flagged off Urbania bus services for the tourists and said that the government has prioritized development of tourism industry to create new employment opportunities.
The minister launched 10 paddled boats and 2 state-of-the-art air-conditioned Urbania bus services for the entertainment of tourists at Ujjayanta Palace reservoir on Wednesday.
He said, “The state government and the tourism development corporation are working on specific plans for the development of the tourism industry. As a result, it will have a far-reaching impact in the state in the coming days.”
The newly launched Urbania bus service shall ensure convenience of tourists from the state and outside the state to visit the attractive tourist centers of the state, he said, adding that this modern bus service will make the trip to tourist centers of the state more attractive for the tourists.
The minister further said that Rs 57.86 lakhs have been spent to purchase these two state-of-the-art buses. These two buses were procured through GEM portal of Government of India, he said, adding that 50 modern boats have also been purchased for boating in various tourist centers of the state.
