In a show of frustration over the deplorable condition of eight rural roads in Purbadaluma and West Daluma villages, residents and commuters took to the streets in protest today, demanding immediate road reform. The roads have been in dire need of repair for an extended period, causing significant inconvenience to the local community.
The situation escalated when the Amarpur-Nutanbazar road was blocked on Tuesday morning, further disrupting transportation in the area. Allegedly, the condition of these roads has deteriorated to such an extent that even unconscious patients are unable to access ambulance services, putting lives at risk. Additionally, students have been forced to stay home during even minor rain showers due to impassable roads.
Repeated appeals to the authorities, including the executive builder of the Amarpur Public Works Department have apparently fallen on deaf ears, leaving residents with no choice but to resort to protest.
Under the leadership of Asiram Riang, the recently elected Tipra motha candidate, villagers began their protest on Tuesday morning. The demonstration quickly gained attention, prompting high-ranking officers to rush to the scene. After engaging in discussions with the protesters, the officials provided assurances that the road issue would be addressed promptly.
In response to this commitment, the protesters decided to lift their road blockade, with hopes that meaningful reform would soon come to their long-neglected roads.
