Women Block Road in Kumarghat over Water Crisis

AGARTALA:

Local women in the Kumarghat Ratiyabari Truck Syndicate area have taken to the streets in protest, blocking the road since Sunday morning over an ongoing water crisis in the region. The protest has led to severe traffic congestion, causing inconvenience to commuters.

The women allege that the area has been grappling with an acute water shortage for the past five days. According to residents, the water supply system frequently breaks down, leaving them in extreme hardship. Despite multiple complaints to the local administration, no concrete solution has been provided, forcing the women to resort to road blockades as a last resort.

The protesters have demanded an immediate resolution to the issue and have vowed to continue their agitation until their grievances are addressed. The local police have been deployed to the scene and are making efforts to pacify the agitated crowd, but the women remain firm in their stance.

Meanwhile, the road blockade has led to significant traffic disruptions in the area, affecting daily commuters and local businesses. As tensions persist, all eyes are now on the administration to see whether they will respond to the pressing demands of the local residents.
