In the wake of a tragic bus accident claiming the life of one Dibraj Debbarma, a young man from the state, tensions escalated as Pradesh Youth Congress members and supporters staged a protest on Friday outside the Tripura State Cooperative Bank head office.
Demanding accountability for the incident, the protestors pressed for immediate action from the bank authorities.
The delegation representing Pradesh Youth Congress managed to enter the premises of the bank and held discussions with the acting Managing Director, in the absence of the MD.
They put forth their demands, including the resignation of the MD, holding them responsible for the unfortunate demise of Dibraj Debbarma. Additionally, they urged for prompt employment for one of Dibraj's family members within the Tripura State Cooperative Bank, along with financial aid for the treatment of those injured in the accident.
Youth Congress leaders emphasized the seriousness of their demands, warning of intensified agitation if the bank fails to comply. The acting MD assured them that the matter would be discussed with the bank's managing committee by Friday afternoon.
However, the Youth Congress leaders remained resolute, stating that they would not hesitate to escalate their protests if their demands are not met promptly. They vowed to exert pressure on the bank authorities until justice is served for Dibraj Debbarma and the affected families.
