The state tourism minister Sushanta Chowdhury on Saturday inaugurated the West Tripura district level Youth Festival and Science Fair here in a function at Baidyanath Majumdar Community Hall in Gandhigram.
Addressing the event, the minister said that youths play a significant role in building a healthy society. He said that youth festivals are to inspire the youth in the field of sports and culture. Both the central and state governments are working on various schemes for the development of youth power, he added.
Only traditional religious education cannot build a person's life properly, he said, adding that sports and cultural activities are necessary for this.
Deputy speaker of the state legislative assembly Ram Prasad Paul, Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation and MLA Dipak Majumder, Vice President of West Tripura Zilla Parishad Biswajit Shil, Bamutia Panchayat Samiti Chairman Deepak Sinha and others were present in the inauguration ceremony.
