Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Monday attended the final round of inter-college quiz competition organised under the Jagriti here at Agartala Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan and appealed the youths and the students to participate in the Government’s war against drug and make the state a drug free society.
Addressing the programme, the Chief Minister expressed his concern over the drug menace in Tripura and said that the drug menace has been affecting society, especially the youths.
The government has undertaken massive campaign under the ‘Nesha Mukt Tripura’, while the police and other agencies are working towards the goal of making Tripura – a drug free state, Dr Saha said, adding that the youths and the students must get involved in the campaign to make this crusade a successful endeavor.
He said that the quiz competition under the Jagriti initiative of the government shall play a key role in raising awareness of road accidents.
The Chief Minister said that due to road accidents, the state and the country as a whole are losing valuable human resources. Awareness is also crucial for consumer protection, he said, adding that students are the future of the country and making them aware of consumer protection and road safety would be beneficial for the government.
